Here is a brief summary of each committee's role, including the name and email address of the chairperson for you to contact for more information.
Our committees currently consist of:
Building Committee:
Responsible for maintenance, support and all other functions associated with the synagogue and its grounds.
Education Committee:
Provides oversight for the religious school and all education programs with such duties and responsibilities as the Board may delegate to it. The committee shall develop and recommend to the Board a budget, tuition and structure for the school and other educational programs. The Education Committee also is involved in the B'nei Mitzvah (adult and student) educational program in conjunction with the Ritual committee.
Finance Committee:
Prepares the congregational budget, proposes dues schedules and handles all other financial matters, making recommendations as appropriate to the Board.
Kitchen & Hospitality: Coordinates Oneg Shabbats; supervises volunteers responsible for monthly potluck dinners; coordinates food for holidays and more.
Membership Committee:
Recruits and welcomes new members and is responsible for communication with the membership as a whole. Also handles advertising and promotions for various CBE events.
Programming Committee:
Responsible for promoting and scheduling all programs and events, (examples: Hanukkah bazaar/party, Purim Carnival, spring fundraiser). With the number of great programs and activities created all the time, there is ALWAYS room on this committee for people!
Social Action Committee:
This year's focus is on "greening" Beth Evergreen. The Social Action team also plans food and clothing drives; and assists local community organizations in their efforts to serve those in need.
Ritual Committee:
In conjunction with the Rabbi, this committee is responsible for worship and ritual services, and arranges for life cycle events (weddings, namings, funerals). The Bat/Bar Mitvahs fall under the Education committee and B'nei Mitzvah Task Force.
Music Committee: Works with the Ritual Committee and Rabbi to bring meaningful music to worship services and holidays; plans concerts.
Mitzvah Matters Committee: Assists congregants at times of joy and sorrow. See link below to download menu ideas for mitzvah meals.
