Mary Zinn and Marilyn Saltzman will co-facilitate a discussion of the book, “Difficult Conversations: How to Discuss What Matters Most,” written by Douglas Stone, Bruce Patton and Sheila Heen. A limited number of copies may be borrowed or purchased from CBE.
Mary Zinn has more than 25 years in the dispute resolution field as a practitioner, trainer, administrator and curriculum designer. She offers expertise in mediation, conflict and anger management, conflict coaching, collaborative models and facilitation. Mary has taught conflict and anger management, facilitating and mediating diverse groups regardless of cultural, income, or educational backgrounds.
In addition to serving as president of Zinn Mediation Associates, Mary is the “Chief Instigator” of the annual Conflict Resolution Month in Colorado campaign, now in its 13th year. She also co-produces, with Sam Fuqua, a quarterly Conflict Resolution Issues call-in radio program at KGNU in Boulder. Mary serves on the Advisory Board for the Conflict Resolution Institute at the University of Denver.
Marilyn Saltzman, CBE Adult Education Committee chair, is a public relations professional who has extensive experience in crisis communications. She was communications manager for Jeffco Public Schools for 20 years and has taught public relations for graduate students at Colorado State University. The co-author of several books, Marilyn wrote a chapter about the shooting at Platte Canyon High School in the award-winning volume, “Reclaiming School in the Aftermath of Trauma.” She has made numerous presentations on communications issues, including dealing with difficult people, around the country at education conferences. Marilyn continues to study and practice Mussar, which has helped her a great deal with “difficult conversations.”
