Tree of Life Learner

“That which is despicable to you, do not do to your fellow, this is the whole Torah, the rest is commentary, go and learn it.”  Rabbi Hillel 110 BCE – 10 CE

Congregation Beth Evergreen offers Life-Long Learning in abundance.  In addition to our ongoing K – 7th grade classes, we now have a preschool/ pre-k program called Gan (גַּן).  Gan is the Hebrew word for “garden” and the term for “preschool” in Israel.  It’s nice, right?  A garden is a space for cultivation and enjoyment, full of opportunity for directed and often unexpected learning.

Finding something unidentifiable growing in our CBE garden the other day, I took a clipping of it for further investigation.  A preschooler noticed it on the desk & asked if I had planted it and what it was.  To BOTH his questions I could only honestly say “I have no idea”.

Alas, I still don’t know!  I think I was distracted, though a more face saving frame may be “joyful learning is a community experience”, much like a garden. J  So, let’s find out together.

Join us for a flying leap into learning at our religious school kick off adventure at the Genesee Experiential Outdoor Learning Center, August 26th Sunday 1 – 5 pm!  All expenses paid for registered students aged 5 and up and student teachers.
