Summary |
The new year is upon us and the CBE Tikkun Olam Chavurah has been actively researching and planning activities for 2021. We are also looking to build long-term, in-depth relationships with several organizations. The Chavurah has identified what we are calling “Liaisons” to the following Tikkun Olam organizations:
- Anti-Defamation League-ADL (mountainstates.adl.org)
- Diversity & Inclusion (overall, not a specific organization)
- Evergreen Christian Outreach-EChO (evergreenchristianoutreach.org)
- Evergreen Shelter Program-ESP (evergreenchristianoutreach.org/get-help/evergreen-shelter-program.html)
- Mountain Resource Center-MRC (mrcco.org)
- Reconstructing Judaism Tikkun Olam (reconstructingjudaism.org/act/doing-justice/tikkun-olam)
The Tikkun Olam Membership list identifies the liaison for each of these organizations. We are looking for Liaisons to the following organizations: Hazon (hazon.org), Mazon (mazon.org), The Action Center (theactioncenter.org). If you are interested learning more about what is involved in becoming a liaison to one of these organizations, please send an email to tikkumolam@bethevergreen.org and either Allison Gustavson or Judy Sherman (Chavurah Co-Chairs) will contact you.
Tikkun Olam now has a portal on the CBE website. You can always check there to see what new information is posted on activities. Currently the portal contains the Tikkun Olam Chavurah Charter, Tikkun Olam Membership List, Tikkun Olam Event Submittal Form and a Guideline for Tikkun Olam Event Organizers. Shortly, there will also be a Year-A-Glance view where you will be able see what is in our 2021 plan.
Unfortunately, due to COVID, many indoor Tikkun Olam activities will not occur until later in 2021. Information will be posted in the weekly email blasts and to the Tikkun Olam Portal as we finalize events and dates. At this time, we have 2 outdoor events in the planning stages. CBE has gotten approval from Jefferson County to Adopt-A-Road, clean-up dates are still TBD. The road is in Conifer and more information will be forthcoming when we finalize the dates. A Bike Rodeo is also planned over the summer, again dates TBD. The Bike Rodeo focus will be on bike handling and bike safety. Other activities are being assessed and more information will be available as plans firm up. If there is an activity or event that you would like the Chavurah to investigate, please fill out and submit the Tikkun Olam Event Submittal Form to tikkunolam@bethevergreen.org
To sum up 2020, in addition to various food and clothing collections, the Holiday Toy Collection for Mountain Resource Center was a huge success. CBE supported 16 families with Holiday gifts. Thanks to all the CBE families that participated in helping these families. And many thanks to those who contributes to various Clothing/Food/Personal Care Product drives. Thank you for all that you do!
