Family Chavurah

Our Mission:  To provide, under the guidance of CBE, opportunities for families with children to engage and connect in Jewish ways.
Vision:  To become a close community of families with children, connected through CBE, which develops into lifelong friendships for both parents and children alike.

Who we are:  Families with children looking to connect in Jewish ways with other CBE families.
What we do:  We attend Family (Mishpacha) Shabbat Services, meet for family-friendly holiday celebrations (i.e. Chanukah, Purim Carnival, Passover, etc.), pot lucks, hikes, camping trips and more.
When and Where we do it all:  We hold Family (Mishpacha) Shabbat Services at CBE once a month, followed by family activites at members’ homes or around town.  We also hold additional Chavurah adventures throughout the year.

Interfaith Book Study, February 11

Join Rabbi Jamie in this 8 session exploration of the transformative spiritual experience of raising and engaging with children through study of Nancy Fuchs-Kreimer’s book Parenting as Spiritual Journey.

CBE Camping Trip, July 7-9

July 7-9

Join us for our annual camping trip at Turquoise Lake in Leadville! With trails for hiking, biking, running, and nature walks, it’s sure to be fantastic event. Rabbi Jamie will be joining us Saturday evening for a Havdallah service, and there will be plenty of singing and s’mores as well. While originally conceived as a Family Chavurah activity, we would like to invite the whole CBE community to come and join us.

Family Chanukah Potluck December 15, 5:30pm

Chanukah Celebration! Perfect to dust off your latke recipe and practice your dreidle spinning.

Celebrate the Festival of Lights: Chanukah Potluck & Party (for all ages)

Community candle lighting, blessings, songs, games & crafts.

And let’s not forget food!

Bring your favorite menorah and one candle for each member of your family

Magical Mitzvah Tour, March 21

February 15, 4-6PM.

Join us for a family day of giving back to the community! There will be different projects for different classes, as follows:

K-2 – Making dog toys and bagging dog food for the Conifer Mountain Resource Center
3-4 – Visiting seniors at Elk Run Assisted Living Community and Life Care Center.  Families will help seniors transfer and decorate small house plants to bigger planters at Elk Run Assisted Living during the first rotation and during the 2nd Rotation, families will sing for residents at Life Care Center.
5-6 – Feeding the hungry by making bean soup packets and collecting canned food for the Conifer Mountain Resource Center.
7 – Planting seeds for the greenhouse.  This project is an important initial step in helping CBE create a more local and sustainable kitchen and community.

PJ Library is a Jewish family engagement program implemented on a local level throughout North America. They mail FREE, high-quality Jewish children's literature and music to families across the continent on a monthly basis.
